MAG INSTRUMENT IS CREATING MANUFACTURING JOBS TO BUILD A STRONGER CALIFORNIA
Mag Instrument, Inc. and its founder, Tony Maglica, applaud Gov. Schwarzenegger’s efforts to help California reclaim its title as The Golden State. Despite concerns regarding California’s business and regulatory climate, Tony Maglica is endorsing the Governor’s various initiatives and believes that California’s best days are ahead.
Mag Instrument has long been an example of how a manufacturer can continue to be a successful business in California: - Quality: Mag Instrument is the American manufacturer of the world famous brand of Maglite® Flashlights that are sold in over 85 countries. Its products have an unsurpassed reputation for quality and reliability, and its workers reflect pride in the company and products they make.
- Technology: Tony Maglica has dedicated himself to the concept of “Strengthening American Manufacturing” -- by proving that American-designed products can excel in the global marketplace by using technology to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Intellectual Property Rights: Mr. Maglica believes in “free trade,” but believes it must also be “fair trade,” based on a level playing field between the U.S. and its trading partners. He is a strong advocate for the defense of intellectual property rights and is against the sale of counterfeit products which are of inferior quality.
- Community Contributions: As a corporate citizen Mag has a tradition of association with worthy causes including The American Red Cross, The National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Fund, The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, The City of Hope, Children’s Miracle Network, and others.
- Local Labor: Mag Instrument, Inc. does not outsource its manufacturing to foreign countries to take advantage of cheap labor and less-stringent environmental standards.
- Growth: Mag Instrument is building a new world class 700,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the City of Ontario in San Bernardino County which will create new jobs and generate more spending and capital investment.
NEW FACILITY = NEW JOBS. The new manufacturing facility will add an estimated 1,600 additional jobs over the 800 existing jobs resulting in the approximate employment of 2,400 workers over the next 2-3 years. Wages earned and spent by both new and existing workers will have a positive ripple effect on the region’s economy. The new jobs will be created as a result of expected growth, planned product introductions and new manufacturing processes brought in-house, some of which are currently performed outside California. NEW FACILITY = MORE PURCHASES. The new facility will generate over $260,000,000 total purchases of goods and services per year within the next 2-3 years due to expanded product line, new manufacturing processes, and continued research and development related to new products and new manufacturing technologies. NEW FACILITY = MORE CAPITAL INVESTMENT. Up to $80,000,000 in new capital investment over the next few years will be made on property, plant and equipment which will further help the region’s economy. NEW FACILITY = ECONOMIC IMPACT. Using commonplace multipliers, the combined economic contribution by Mag to the Southern California and U.S. economy is estimated at over $1 Billion Dollars per year within the next 2-3 years.
