We are looking for a highly skilled professional to join our growing and future oriented team located in Ontario, California.

Summary/Objective 

The Industrial Product Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing various products/product families. Successful candidate appreciates the requirement of aesthetic design in the context of the shape, style and overall appearance of a high-quality consumer product/tool with unsurpassed performance and reliability.

Essential Functions

Key attributes for this position are as follows

  • Ensures design efficiently and effectively utilizes materials, labor and capitol resources.
  • Designs, models, develops samples and tests finished product for quality performance purposes and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary.
  • Familiarity with a variety of industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Communicates costs involved in production of design
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Knowledge of plastics and metals
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, stamping, molding, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of automation
  • SolidWorks CAD software proficiency

Work Environment

Required Education and Experience

XA Systems Programmer / Analyst
IT

Mag Instrument, Inc. a highly successful manufacturer of the Mag-Lite® flashlight has an immediate opening for an experienced computer programming professional with strong analytical skills for developing robust business systems applications.  Develop these computer applications by programming in languages such as XA Enterprise Integrator, XA Power-Link and a working knowledge of internal XA functionality.

Job Functions

  • Identify areas where XA Power-Link can give the biggest benefit and implement the relevant modules in a timely and organized fashion with or without collaborating with external consultants.
  • Implement new computer applications including the programming, documentation and training of users.
  • Assist Programming Staff Maintaining existing AS/400 software programs and systems.
  • Work on continually improving programs and systems to make them more efficient to use and to eliminate potential user errors.
  • Any other job related activity as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Identify and resolve problems, and potential problems, involving non-conforming programs and data integrity.
  • Verify the implementation of all systems and programs.
  • Add and remove programs from the system as necessary.

  Desired Qualifications 

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT or other related engineering/science discipline and 3 years’ work experience OR BS Degree with 5 years’ work experience in project management.  If no degree, 10 to 15 years’ related work experience.
  • MUST BE SKILLED IN: MAPICS XA, SQL, Enterprise Integrator/Power-Link
  • In-depth understanding of XA software modules IM, PUR/PM, COM/CSM, PDM/EPDM, CAS, A/P, A/R, G/L, FCST, MPSP, MRP and P&MC.
  • Work experience in an IBMi – AS400 environment, preferably in a manufacturing industry.
  • Available to work after normal business hours, on weekends or holidays, if needed.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills for documentation & presentations when working with users.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.

 Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform purchasing tasks, many of which can be routine in nature, for a limited number of commodities, frequently for repeat orders or releases against annual or other purchase contracts.
  • Responsible for administering the master purchase order release system -a complex system developed to sustain uninterrupted high volume production operations and a just-in-time inventory management program.
  • Responsible for identifying and developing prospective vendors as primary and secondary sources of supply through competitive bidding procedures, and by coordinating vendor qualification efforts.
  • Analyze and evaluate competitive bids.
  • Follow up on expected delivery dates.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate must have 3 – 5 years purchasing experience in a high volume manufacturing environment. Excellent communication and organization skills, Computer literate in MS Word and Excel and AS400 experience a plus. Bachelors Degree preferred.

Basic Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates must have a college degree
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as a Purchasing Manager
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with AS400 system is a plus
  • Strong professional negotiating skills

Essential Functions and Duties: 

  • Manage overall purchasing strategies ensuring low cost of material
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
  • Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
  • Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
  • Ensuring suppliers meet performance and contractual obligations and qualify new sources as appropriate.
  • Ability to manage complex/changing projects and working under pressure to deliver results

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Moving materials and parts from storage locations to production areas
  • Ability to use floor jacks, hand trucks and dollies
  • Count quantities of materials and parts accurately and quickly
  • Positioning and occasionally carrying heavy objects
  • Ensure work causes little or no interruption in production or delays
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and safety regulations

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: -High School Diploma or Equivalent – Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment (bending, twisting,  stretching, kneeling, squatting, pushing/pulling, lifting, standing and walking for  extended periods, working in confined spaces and heights occasionally
